Public Defender Service achieve Lexcel accreditation

The Public Defender Service are delighted to have been awarded Lexcel accreditation.

Lexcel is the Law Society’s legal practice quality mark and is only awarded to those in the legal profession who are able to demonstrate the highest standards of practice management and client care.

The Lexcel accreditation is an important award for us as it demonstrates that we have plans, policies and procedures in place to ensure that we are operating at the highest possible standards and giving our clients the very best service.

In order to maintain our accreditation we will be subject to annual maintenance visits to ensure that our high levels of service remain, thereby demonstrating our commitment to client care and best practice.

Our assessor remarked that “This was an excellent review with evidence of a high level of compliance across the PDS and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

However, of particular note was the high standard of client care. The PDS have developed procedures that not only meet the requirements of the Lexcel standard but also provide a high standard of service and focus on client needs and objectives.

There is an excellent level of client care across the PDS. Very detailed and focused advice and information is provided to clients at the outset and throughout the life of a matter. I was very impressed with the level of advice provided and the detailed information recorded on files.”
