For those of you interested in the numbers, the most current statistics for the Criminal Justice System (CJS) in England and Wales were updated on 22/12/22.
The headline figures are as follows:
- 1.35miliion individuals were dealt with by the CJS in the year ending June 2022
- Community resolutions increased
- Out of court disposal decreased
- Prosecutions increase by 7%
- Convictions up by 10%
- Defendants remanded in custody at Crown Court on the rise
- The average custodial sentence for all indictable offences rose from 22.6 months to 25.7 months
