Kate has regularly conducted serious criminal trials. She has also acted as junior in several murder trials, and been leading counsel in an 8-week people trafficking trial. She has appeared several times in the Court of Appeal.
Notable cases
Allegation of deliberate fire-setting causing death. The case involved complex scientific evidence relating to the flammable properties of fabric.
Attempted murder. Defendant had learning difficulties. Three psychiatrists gave live evidence over whether he was fit to plead.
Elderly client with dementia accused of a campaign of rape against his stepdaughter in the 1970s. Defendant found fit to plead but had an intermediary and was treated by the court as a vulnerable witness.
